Scott Tveten of Tveten’s Auto Clinic in Lakewood has received the highest honor given a member of ASA-WA. Scott was named the “Outstanding Member of the Year for 2005”.
Chip Keen, Chairman of the Board, said the decision was based on many things. Chip stated “Scott has actively participated in local unit leadership, serving first as a Division Chair, then as President-Elect, then President.
Tveten’s Auto Clinic is an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence repair facility and has earned the AAA “Top Shop Award”, and has been awarded the high EnvirStar rating.
Scott has given many hours to the community as a volunteer each year at the Ford/AAA Student Skills Competition, on the local community college’s automotive advisory board, on the local heath department’s business advisory board, and as the ASA liaison to regulatory agencies at the state and federal levels.
Scott was instrumental and in organizing the state insurance committee and was the state Insurance Committee Chairman for 6 years. Scott also held Treasurer, Chairman Elect, Chairman of the Board, and the Immediate Past Chairman on the state level.
Scott has worked in the family auto repair business since he was six years old, when he was paid a nickel by his dad. Through hard work and perseverance, he eventually worked his day’s pay all the way up to a whole dollar. Over the years he has helped to grow the business, seen it though a relocation, and now runs it, together with his wife and partner, Rachael. Scott received a standing ovation for this high honor.
