Commercial Tire Inc., headquartered in the Boise Idaho area, has bought two of the final pieces of the GCR Tires & Service business from Bridgestone Americas Inc.  Both locations are in Spokane, Washington.

Commercial Tire has been serving the Northwest since founder Bob Schwenkfelder opened a tire shop in Boise, Idaho, in 1968.

Bridgestone confirmed the sale to Commercial Tire, which prior to the sale had 15 locations, 27 combined retail-commercial stores and three retread plants.  Originally it was reported that the two Spokane locations were sold to Pomp’s Tire Service.

Bridgestone retains nine GCR stores and two retread plants.  They’ll be part of a GCR Mining business operation.

In addition to Commercial Tire’s purchase of a store and retread plant, two of the nation’s largest commercial tire dealers acquired 49 GCR locations and 10 retread plants.  Pomp’s Tire Service purchased 23 GCR locations and five retread plants and some of those locations are in the Northwest with 9 Washington locations and 4 locations in Oregon.
